Georgia played two quarterbacks Saturday, but Greyson Lambert got the start after getting word at the team hotel Friday night and went most of the game.

Brice Ramsey seemed genuinely fine with that.

Getting two first half series at quarterback in relief and being Georgia’s top punter suited him just fine.

“It’s been a crazy year and now I’m in a different role punting and enjoying it,” said Ramsey, who was the favorite to be the starting quarterback in the preseason but hasn’t started once. “I’m just honestly doing what I can to help out the team.”

For the second game in a row, Ramsey was the starting punter and again performed well.

He averaged 47.7 yards on three punts with a 40.0 net average.

Drew Butler, the former Georgia punter now with the NFL’s Arizona Cardinals, messaged Ramsey on Twitter after the Florida game, offering pointers on punting in the offseason.

Ramsey said his punting practice now consists of one eight minute period and some work before practice. After all, he’s still a quarterback and went 4 of 6 for 26 yards in two series that ended in punts.

Ramsey wouldn’t mind following Butler into the NFL as a punter.

“I don’t have a problem doing that,” he said. “They have a pretty good little life for them. I wouldn’t mind that job.”

Butler “was joking about getting a kicking cleat because I’m still wearing just a regular football cleat. He was messing around with me.”

Ramsey isn’t in a hurry to switch out of his quarterback cleats.

“I don’t think it’s affected me yet,” he said. “I’m just going to knock on wood and just keep on going with it.”
