A pedestrian was killed Friday night in Athens after he was struck by a vehicle while in a crosswalk where witnesses said he didn’t have a walk signal, according to Athens-Clarke County police.
Alfonzo Wilson of Magnolia Street died at St. Mary’s Hospital after he was hit around 6 p.m. on Friday. According to police, a Colbert woman was driving her Toyota Corolla southbound on Hawthorne Avenue when her car struck Wilson.
Wilson was transported to the hospital, where he died from his injuries. No charges have been filed as the investigation continues, according to police.
