A blogger who argues that rape should be legal on private property is hosting a meeting for his supporters in Athens on Friday.
The Athens meetup will be one of 165 in 40 countries, all happening at 8:20 p.m.
Roosh Valizadeh, who has used the website ReturnOfKings.com to post pro-rape arguments, announced the meetups earlier this week. There is also a meeting planned in Atlanta.
Return of Kings promotes neomasculinity.
“ROK aims to usher the return of the masculine man in a world where masculinity is being increasingly punished and shamed in favor of creating an androgynous and politically-correct society that allows women to assert superiority and control over men,” according to its website.
In Athens, supporters were told to go to The Arch between 8 p.m. and 8:20 p.m. In order to figure out who else is there for the meeting, who Valizadeh calls “fellow tribesmen,” the men are instructed to ask “Do you know where I can find a pet?”
If that person is also there for the meeting, they will respond, “Yes, it’s right here.”
At exactly 8:20 p.m. on Saturday, the group will leave the meetup spot and move to a secret space where the meeting will be held.
The meetings “are for heterosexual men only,” according to a post from Valizadeh. The men must also be old enough to get into a bar, since that’s where some of the meetings will be held, he wrote.
Several online commenters from various cities have threatened to show up at the meeting places to protest the Return of Kings groups.
Valizadeh wrote on his website that “if crazy feminists show up,” members of the group should record video footage of the women and send it to Valizadeh. Then, the group should make their way to the secret meeting spot and “make sure you are not followed,” he wrote.
