SEC 15 for 2015

Each week ABH SEC go-to-guy Connor Riley will rank the top 15 players in the conference. The list will be fluid and (hopefully) will be fun.

15. Dak Prescott, Mississippi State: The quarterbacks in the SEC aren’t particularly good, and I feel obliged to at least choose one. So Prescott is the pick, because he’s played a full season and hasn’t generated hype off of one game or by the fact that the quarterback wants to be a rocket scientist.

14. Reggie Ragland, Alabama: Much like having one quarterback, it feels like an Alabama inside linebacker needs to be included on the list. To start the season, we’ll go with Ragland. But if Reuben Foster destroys players on defense like he does on special teams, we will include him too.

13. Laremy Tunsil, Ole Miss: He’s the best left tackle in the country but he broke his leg in the bowl game last year, which is why he is so low. Also he may or may not have committed an NCAA violation when his step-dad ratted him out for meeting with agents. The Tunsil family should watch Goodfellas to prevent this from happening in the future.

12. Sebastian Tretola, Arkansas: Tretola is a 6-foot-5 334 pound offensive lineman, but he is on this list for his touchdown pass against UAB last year. He might be the best quarterback in the conference.

11. Curt Maggitt, Tennessee: A senior leader on a rather young defense. He’s the Tennessee version of Jordan Jenkins.

10. Jordan Jenkins, Georgia: A senior leader on a rather young defense. He’s the Georgia version of Curt Maggitt.

9. Pharoh Cooper, South Carolina: South Carolina didn’t have many highlights last year, and almost all of them came from Cooper. He’ll spend a lot of time at wide receiver, but Steve Spurrier will line him up all over the field, even at quarterback. That means South Carolina can have two more quarterbacks than Florida.

8. Derrick Henry, Alabama: Ranked this high for his nickname, El Tractorcito. If Lane Kiffin gives him the ball more, he could be higher.

7. Robert Nkemdiche, Ole Miss: He belongs here because he is the best recruit to come out of Georgia in the past five years. Doesn’t have impressive stats, but he is basically JJ Watt without all the commercials.

6. Myles Garrett, Texas A&M: Long, talented and he might play in a real defense this year. He posted better freshman numbers than Jadeveon Clowney.

5. Derek Barnett, Tennessee: He’s essentially the same thing has Garrett. Does Butch Jones have a cloning machine? And if so, why hasn’t he cloned Peyton Manning yet?

4. A’Shawn Robinson, Alabama: He’s the best run defender on the best run defense in the conference. Sure Alabama gave up 230 rushing yards to Ohio State’s Ezekiel Elliott last year, but Alabama fans will have you believe they lost that game because of Blake Sims.

3. Nick Chubb, Georgia: See below

2. Leonard Fournette, LSU: Nick Chubb is cool. He’s like a million dollars. But you know what is really cool? A billion dollars and Leonard Fournette. Fournette is the Stephen Curry of college football, in that he might not be the best player, but he is the most entertaining in the country.

1.Vernon Hargreaves, Florida: He is worlds better than any other cornerback in college football. Fans won’t hear his name much, but that is because he is a bogeymen for opposing quarterbacks.
