Malcolm Mitchell shared his passion for books with kids with his “Reading with Malcolm” program.

The Georgia wide receiver also penned a children’s book this offseason: “The Magician’s Hat.”

Now, he is being recognized for what he’s done off the field by being named to the Allstate AFCA Good Works Team. He is one 11 FBS players selected as having made a commitment to help others and make a positive impact in their communities.

Mitchell is Georgia’s 16th honoree for the Good Works team since its inception in 1992. Past recipients include Chris Conley (2014), Aaron Murray (2012), Aron White (2011), D.J. Shockley (2005), David Greene (2003), Jon Stinchcomb (2001) and Matt Stinchcomb (1997 and 1998).

Mitchell’s “Reading with Malcolm” program encourages kids to read and shares his story of overcoming reading difficulties. He also has visited Camp Sunshine for children with cancer and volunteers with the Boys & Girls Club of Athens and takes part in UGA’s “Learn, Play, Excel,” initiative.
